How To Cut and Prepare Track
Просмотров 30 тыс.6 лет назад
First cut the track with a hacksaw. After cutting you need to trim back the internal copper conductors a little bit. Then you can put on an end cap or a power-feed or other kind of connector. This video shows you how to trim the copper conductors to prepare the track.

Anyone know how to focus a 50w or 100w LED to 20° or less? Nobody seems to have this info anywhere.
Great concise and to the point. But note that PAR alean means Photosynthetic Active Range (400-700nm)
Tank you
Hello would you have a tutorial video similar where including Oval Beam? Thanks
How do I remove the connector once it snaps to the track?
Instructions say L or live (copper colored acres) is where the groove is on the track. That is not what you are doing in this video. Which is correct?
They just do that to make me crazy!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the explanation.
Pretty easy to do on a table, now show me how to install a line of 5 tracks from a live end with connectors while on the ceiling?
Agree it's doesn't always easy
2024 thank you!
What if your told, a new unbranded nautical tripod lamp fits a E26 bulb, but it’s to big, what now?
Excellent thanks for the help🎉😊
Good knowledgeable information. I appreciate you taking the time to make this video.
would it be difficult for someone who doesnt know anything about electrical work to attach a corded plug to the live end connector?
If there was ever a person that needed less lighting,.
Thank you sir, u answered my question 😊
Good
Very helpful!
Hello everyone I need help programming 3 mi light boxes to work with 1 remote can anyone please help how to program it?
I've got existing track embedded in sheetrock dating from 1990. I'd like to change the rather large track light fixtures that are currently in place to smaller ones without having to remove the old track and install a new one. The challenge is these fixtures are the 4 point (4 wire) type and the new fixtures I've been considering are all 3 wire. Is there a way to rewire power to the track so the 3 point fixtures can be used? Too, this particular track is controlled by two different dimmer switches. That is to say four of the fixtures are on one dimmer, two others are on the other.
It sounds like you've got two-circuit track. Assuming it's H-type track (which means Halo or Halo compatible), then we do have lights that can work on this kind of track. Best thing is to take a pic of the pins on your track lights and email to us so we can take a look. Maybe contact us through our web form at lumicrest.com and we can guide you from there?
@lumicrest I can take a pic but it appears I cannot upload it through the web contact page. Is there an email address I can send to?
@@bobedsall5625 I don't want to post an email address on youtube, if you contact us through the webform I will give you a contact to send to, is that ok?
.@lumicrest Will do
do i have to reconnect the controller every time the led strip is disconnected from electricity ? thank you
No, it remembers the syncing (remote to the controller) and even the colour and modes, even if power is disconnected and reconnected.
I waited my whole entire life to know it was a measurement of 8ths? Just when you thought u knew something hahahah..
Useless common sense. No link for these bulbs either. Wow a wide angle is wider than narrow, thanks captain obvious.
Thanks for the helpful comment. The bulbs seen in this video have been replaced with newer models, also with switchable lenses, such as our Teardrop LED integrated track head and Modulux LED track head.
Trying to help out my 85 year old father in law, and I'll now assume it's the Lightolier type, or Juno, since they are similar. His track lighting was put in 20 years ago, all with halogen lights, so he now wants LED, as it seems the base of the light is finished, as adding new Halogen bulbs still won't allow them to work. I know the lights only have two prongs, so that narrows it down to the two tracks with two prongs, mentioned here. It looks like I may have to drive over to his place again (he's legally blind) to check the prongs, to see if they are two rounded, or one rounded on one side...the other square. Thanks for the education on this topic!
Regarding the identification to lamp bases, is the B15d base the same as the BA15d base?
Seems the B15D and BA15D refer to the same thing, yes. It's just two different abbreviations for Bayonet (B vs BA) You may also see it abbreviated as BAY
@@lumicrest Thanks
Why can't I find dimmable LED replacement bulbs for my chandelier? When I look at the LED's it tells me their base is an E12, but you can clearly see by looking at the base that it is not an E12. Are E12 and E14 compatible in the same fixture?
E12 and E 14 are not compatible in the same fixture. But E11 and E12 are compatible. One is Euro standard and one is North American but they can be used in the same sockets. As for dimmability there are two challenges with chandelier bulbs 1) They are so small there is very little room for sophisticated electronics in them 2) they consume so little power (like 2-4 watts typically) that many dimmers can't work with them. The issue is that a typical dimmer may not get enough current running through the AC circuit to power itself (because only 2-4 watts is flowing) and the dimmer itself may lose power momentarily, causing flicker. We found the Leviton 6674 dimmer is good for very low loads like this because its internal electronics are designed to run on very low current.
@@lumicrest Thank you!!!
No wonder the Arab funder backed out 🙀🤣 because sterling got caught
What a horrible design for trouble shooting
Thanks for your comment LucifersDeathSquad. The inline connector works great. It's difficult to understand what your comment might be based on however
@@lumicrest - I had a 75ft section of connected track lighting in a commercial setting. The middle inline connector went bad and was shorting the entire lighting circuit. To get to that section I had to take 35 ft of track off. Would be alot better if you didn't have to slide each side off and could remove connector with just the two connecting screws.
@@LucifersDeathSquad Yes agreed it would be a pain to have to do that. Question is how to design an inline connector that would engage the copper rails within the track without actually being pushed into the track, so it could be removed without pulling the tracks apart? Seems it would have to engage from the front of the track, which would make it stick out beyond the surface of the track and would look rather bulky and unattractive (?)
@@lumicrest- You're thinking in terms of the current design. It would obviously have to be a complete redesign of the track and connector. Seems like it could be way better.
@@LucifersDeathSquad Actually I'm thinking of a complete redesign. Any specific suggestions?
It is just Kelvin (K), not degrees Kelvin (°K)
Yes, I learned that after I made the video. Seems that's another example of a confusing little detail about lighting actually. Thanks
0:48 is this setting important? i cannot find any description in official manual? what would i set for an rgbw strip?
For the price point, this system seems to fall short of some of the lesser systems out there. The dynamic lighting modes are very limited. I've seen store bought systems that have sequenced lighting where you can see patterns within the strips. Mi-light only changes the whole strip at once, or flashed the whole thing on and off. No dancing, no music sync, nothing here with Mi-light
Music sync happens through the Miboxer app. These devices are not designed to control "pixel" LED strips for making patterns, chasing etc. Pixel strips are a whole different animal.
Why are the wires allowed to be soo short? Nec says 6" from point of entry, why does that not apply here?
Because they love making piece of shit products
my mother inherited a torchiere lamp that was brought in 1948 when my great grandparents married. Uses a E39 (mogul) 3 way socket, with a 100-200-300 watt or (uncommon, 50-100-150 watt with mogul base) bulb. Another E39 base bulb you might find in a residential area, is a mercury vapor, metal halide or high pressure sodium fixture in an outdoor floodlight, or if you have an indoor garden and use metal halide/high pressure sodium grow lights.
Interesting. Hope the video was helpful in figuring that out!
how much coverage in sq. ft. one gets from a 30 degree lens when lit from a distance of 3 meters?
Our website has a calculator that allows you to check light coverage based on lens angle here: lumicrest.com/calculator-tools/beam-spread-calculator/
I doubt the LED would last 40k hours.
I assume if your artwork is correctly lit you can also save money by exhibiting your work without special non reflective acrylics or glass?
Thank you!! Your video is the only good thing that has happened so far today, in my search for Halogen PAR 20 50 W Range Hood Lights...seems they don't make them anymore! At least now, I know what the terms mean!
can someone tell me how to remove it once it's installed....a reverse of 0:13 ... I have a outlet extension cord for my track lighting and need to replace it and can't get it off the track
What I found with LED light bulbs: their luminance decreeses with time, so on this they do Not work our as much cheaper as we are lead to believe cheaper yes but not as cheap as they are paper, on the comford lever low voltage Halogen light is by far the most comfortable to live with LED light bulbs I bought about 6 years ego sure they are still working but now their light output is more like a 40 watts tungsten bul that was originallycompoarable to 100- 125 watt when new,£10 each are Not exactly cheap they do work out cheaper still
In the time it takes the LED's output to decay to a noticeable level your Halogen bulb would have reached the end of its life mate. The issue most people have with LEDs is they buy from sketchy dealers who don't understand the thermal management of LED's resulting in very short L70 hours on their bulbs. (L70 being the time it takes for an LED to reach 70% of its initial lumen output when its "dead" or burned out. The company I work for generally has an L70 of > 60,000 hours, or ~6.5 years) On Halogens, just google the spectrum of light they output, more than half isn't even in the visible spectrum. You're wasting half the wattage as IR heat. LED's do not have an IR component, they generally convert ~90% of the power to light (10% is lost due to the nonlinear power supply they require)
Great video. I have recessed lights in kitchen. Is Clean white the same as bright white. I did purchase Feit Electric brand, 3000K, bright white, 450 lumens. I have not yet installed. Still trying to figure how to on that. Thanks.

Hi I need to find a gigantic screw base meaning I bought a corn cob light for the garage and need a receptacle?
Could you make your own connectors using a series of bx ends, connecting each bx end with romex in series going through walls and such like an extension cord? It would go live end to track, then bx out to romex to bx in on a new track, and so on?
